Insulation made of mineral wool
Insulation material of mineral wool is manufactured by heating natural or artificial minerals such as stone or fibre glass to melting point and expanding them with air. Mineral wool contains large amounts of static air and this makes the products ideal for heat and sound insulation.
When mineral wool is compacted, the mineral fibres are crushed so that the compacted material becomes dust. In the production of mineral wool, the manufacturer can e.g. compact off-cuts and reuse the dust as a raw material.
Compacted mineral wool dust does not stick together in blocks, but is collected in containers or plastic bags.
